AHAs are weak organic acids found naturally in foods. They include glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid.  PHAs are a group of naturally occurring, non-toxic substances and related compounds, providing moisturizing and anti-aging benefits, like AHAs, but without the stinging and burning often found with AHAs.  PHAs in NeoStrata products include gluconolactone, glucoheptonolactone and lactobionic acid (a polyhydroxy bionic acid).
